As a sub-brand of Carnival Cruise Line, Carnival Entertainment strives to and succeeds in being the most desirable place for a career in entertainment.
Carnival Entertainment believes that the entertainment industry is so much more than just a setlist, stage and lights. What sets Carnival Entertainment apart is that all of their entertainment disciplines (singers, dancers, musicians, fun squad, youth staff, and technicians) work together as one large entertainment group that creates an experience unlike any other. Carnival came to us with the task of creating a branding system that would encompass what it truly feels like to become part of the Entertainment team at Carnival Cruise.
CALLING ALL WAVEMAKERS
We traveled to NYC to assist in talent castings in Broadway, spend time at the Carnival Studios in Davie FL and sailed in one of the ships to the Caribbean to solve one problem: How can we create a branding design system that attracts qualified talent from all over the world to come work for Carnival Cruise instead of pursuing a career in Broadway, Vegas or Westside? Our main focus was to design a brand that exemplifies all the incredible talent and memories that each Carnival Entertainment member can offer to each ship.
Our design strategy called for a dynamic visual language to connect the uniqueness of each ship's entertainment but more important to recruit entertainers from the top cities in the world who feel like Carnival can represent them.
BRINGING THE TALENT TO THE SEA
Our team drew inspiration from the vibrancy that the industry of entertainment brings. While also adding what the mother brand Carnival Cruise has portrayed for years. We highlighted what makes CE different than Broadway or other entertainment outlets and thought about how many fun activities the CE family has to offer when living at sea. With all of these experiences and information in mind, we formulated a brand that is energetic, full of color and always ready to entertain! Our team developed a system of iconography that depicted the activities that each of the CE Staff handles onboard. Which we then turned into pins for the staff to wear around the ship to encourage communications with visitors onboard! Then we set out to create illustrations, patterns, and textures that represented this burst of energy that the CE family embodies. From icons that depict the different ventures to a brand voice that shows what it means to become part of the CE family, Carnival Entertainment has finally found their identity!
